Leanne Schmit-Reed, Licensed Professional Counselor

These three words speak to the process I adhere to as a counselor. I recognize that in order to help, I have to really get it... Deep listening & understanding must come first. I also bring many years of experience and specialized training. My special passions are helping those struggling with anxiety (including social anxiety & OCD), substance use, and long-term problems related to family history. I bring a rich and personal perspective to individuals in the LGBTQ communities, those dealing with repercussions of conservative religious upbringing, and southern transplants. Often used treatment modalities include CBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Exposure & Response Prevention, all informed by an understanding of neurobiology and the impact of trauma -and YOU. On a personal note, as is typical of folks out here, I'm inspired by nature and spend as much time outside as possible. I also enjoy woodworking and just tinkering with most anything.
